Whew!

I have been extremely busy lately getting some thing done. It feels so good to get these finished. It has been about a year since I made these if not more. Time goes fast doesn't it?

First.... a Dresden Plate that I made out of some scraps just to see if I could do it. I hand quilted it. Not that great at it and have only tried to hand quilt a couple of times but you don't learn if you don't try!

Second....This quilt, loved the quilt but hubby had bought the quilt frame for me and although I had practiced quite a bit on it I still didn't have the hang of it but went ahead with this quilt anyway. I was not happy with it when it was quilted and debated on tearing it all out and said it can sit. And sit it did but I love the quilt and finally said time for this thing to get out of the UnDoneBox and get Done. So I put some binding on it and it is all done and on the bed. I had a nice flannel sheet for the back of it.

Then I figured that some practice wouldn't hurt on the quilt frame because I have two more twin size quilts to get quilted. One has been sitting here since I can't remember because I couldn't get any backing for it for a long time then the other one has been sitting here about a year. So I made a quilt out of some sheets and am working on that. I am getting the hang of the whole quilt frame thing but have a long way to go on it yet.  I can't do anything fancy just some meandering is all. I will have "finish" photos later. The quilt is not anything fancy or great just rectangles but something that was easy and quick to put together.

Hope your UnDoneBox is getting empty too!

Been Busy!

Among other things I have been working on lately I finally finished this table runner. I had started it some time ago and got a bit disgusted with it so I put it up. I had wanted to hand quilt around the border but could not find a marking tool that I could see well enough to follow the lines. Finally I just said forget it and did a line of straight stitch around it, put the binding on it and hand stitched that down. I was afraid the marking would not come out of the fabric but they all did. I think I tried about 3 or 4 different marking tools including chalk and various colors. I guess sometimes there is nothing else you can do.  What do you do in a case like that?

2 Done and ? To Go!

Unfinished quilts that is. This little table runner I got in one of the Scrap Bags last summer. Nice little kit, I had fun doing it but then let it sit. This was my first time using bias cut binding. I like how it turned out. The Santa wall hanging, someone sent to me last year when I was at my Mom's in NY State taking care of her. I had plenty to do and just never got to it. I finally got around to do some hand quilting on it, I hand quilted the other one too. First things I really ever hand quilted. I have tried it before but never really did a project before. Thought I would start small and try and get the hang of it. I have a long way to go before I am a "hand quilter" but I did enjoy working on them and will try hand quilting again.

I have been trying to get some UFO's done up. I have at least 3 small quilts to get quilted, my pineapple one needs a border and then I think I am about caught up. It has been difficult to get time to work on all of these as my hubby is on the dreaded night crew so my sewing time is not what I am used to. But I am plugging away at it.
I forgot that I did that practice hand quilting on some fabric using a stencil. It really wasn't a project it was just to get the idea of the whole thing.
