A Sea of Bow Ties

Cheryl, over at MO, Broker, My Creative Side posted her bow
tie quilts and wanted to see other peoples. I don't have
a bow tie quilt, not yet, but I sure have a ton of bow ties.
I left a comment on Cheryl's blog and she got back in touch with me and she said she would like to see them.

These were given to me by Mamma Net while I was back East this winter taking care of my Mom.

Some of them are big ones, most of them are big ones. There are several of each, some have 4 and some more and some less. The same with the little ones. Two blocks of the blue are hand sewn and the black with the purple are hand sewn as well, I think there are 4 of those. I have a lot of little pieces but not all the pieces are there. That is OK because by the time I would finish with what is there I would be tired of doing them. They should make a nice quilt and I hope to finish them up one day...courage first though.

So there you have it Cheryl. Looks like a lot of work to me. What do you think? Can I do it?

I know I commented earlier, I must have not hit post- my bad. I love that you have so many almost finished. For me it is a blast working on someone elses UFO- I like the chance to see it to completion and I like getting to work in fabrics I might not normally have in my stash. The bows can be finished several ways. My suggestion would be to cut background sqs the size of the larger part of the bow and set using a Y-seam. It would make a great carry along project if you like to hand sew (if not you can machine sew and get good results). It will be fun to see what you come up with.

Looks like a lot of sewing but I bet it turns out beautiful. Can't wait to see what you do with them.

I have all the confidence in the world that you will turn out some beauties from all that. Nobody says you have to finish them by next month, take your time and enjoy the adventure.

Oooh, set-in seams. I've not been that brave yet, but I love all those bowties.
