How Many People Does It Take To Square Up A Quilt?

At least 4! Yup that is right 4 of us, the 2 husbands and the two of us. Amy had an old Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt that she wanted to square up so she could get it quilted and use it. I have a huge quilt table in the basement and told her she could come down to square it up if she wanted to. Joey and Amy came yesterday and it took all 4 of us to get it straight. The guys had a lot of input and helped us by making sure it was square and held the rulers steady. It seemed as though the more you looked at it the more it was off some place. You can read Amy's post about the quilt and see more photos of the process here.

We had a great time working on the quilt. I hope she gets the borders on it soon and gets it finished up so we can all see it. Now we have one more to do so come on Amy get that edge torn off so we can get it done.

Still a UFO

I started this wall hanging before Christmas but got interrupted and had to go out of town for 3 months. I finally got back to the quilt yesterday. I have only made prairie points once before for the outside of a doll quilt but I saw a quilt on Moda Bake Shop , It is the pinwheel baby quilt, which I have fabric to make, I think it is so sweet. So I thought I would try this idea. I think it is much easier to put them along the border than it was for me to put them on the outside of the quilt. I am sure a zillion people have done it this way but I don't want to get into any trouble with anyone for using an idea I didn't dream up.

I liked the fabric and thought it would make into a nice
quilt for a friend of mine, subtle was what I was looking for. I am putting red binding on it because I thought it could use a little extra pizazz without going overboard. I just laid some strips there to see what it would look like. Now all I have to do is get hubby to put the quilt table up and we are all set. Next time I do the prairie points I will put them out a bit away from the corners, then I can mitre corners on the border. I didn't' want to do that this time because I was afraid there was too much bulk there and I don't think I thought it through
enough, I just wanted it done. You know how it goes.

Another Quilt!

I have been super busy lately and haven't even thought about posting. I did something I have wanted to do for a long time and then after that I finished that scrap quilt I had been working on. I don't have it quilted yet but I put the whole thing together yesterday and plan on getting it quilted this week. This is my quilt table which is nothing more than two full sheets of 3/4 inch plywood with a bit of a coating on them to keep them from being so rough, on two saw horses. My husband's idea, good job dear! I have had this table for a few years now and when I am not putting a quilt together we just take it down and store it away till the next time.
