Little "G's" Quilt

I finally finished the star quilt I was working on. The quilting went fairly well on it. I did try some Free Motion Quilting. I don't think I did a super job but I am just learning so I guess it is OK. I found out which needle and thread was better for it so that is something. Plus I never tried anything this big so that was another whole deal.

As I had mentioned before when I posted the top of the quilt I used a different ruler for making the half square triangles, well that will never happen again and makes me wonder if this quilt was trouble starting with that ruler. I do like how it turned out. The fabrics I used were all from my stash including the backing and binding and some of them were favorites. I love blue anyway. I would like to make another one of these only in lots of colors and NOT using that ruler.

The back I pieced because I didn't have enough fabric for the back and wanted to use what I had for it. I like how it turned out. I did put a label on it but I put the blocks over the label to take the photo.
Update on the pack rat, ugh, seems there may have been two of them because he is still at it with the tomatoes and dropped one in the middle of one of the traps and sprung it. Also one of the traps was missing the other day. So who knows.

Pack Rat continued

Well he is still around. Since he moved out of my husband's truck he moved into a stone wall. Our garden is on an incline and we built a wall at the bottom in order to have the garden, some of this wall is stone. This guy is one hungry fella. My husband spotted this "stash" last week and we have been watching it grow. Today I took this photo and then my husband cleaned the tomatoes and green peppers out of the hole and set a little trap for the guy. Hopefully, we can catch him soon.
Click on the photo and you can see teeth marks in the tomatoes and that the green pepper is half eaten. Also I think he is wise in selecting the green tomatoes as they would last longer than the red ones, LOL.

Tomatoes in the Engine!

Yes those are tomatoes in the engine of my husbands truck. He found this prize yesterday when he went out to start his truck and it wouldn't start. Naturally he lifted the hood and found this. A pack rat had gotten in there and chewed almost every wire and put tomatoes in it. We have had some problems with pack rats in vehicles before but never this bad. A pack rat put dog food in the heater of a car once and when you turned the heat on you could hear it popping like pop corn and smelled like dog food when you got out.

It took my husband all day to get the wiring back together that is how much the pack rat chewed. When my husband went to the parts store the man told him that someone else was just in and had the same thing happen. I just couldn't believe how destructive this little guy was. These two photos are only some of the damage. Makes me wonder if we will have a bad winter. It seems a bit early in the season for pack rats to be doing this but I guess this little guy is a tomato lover. We had been trying to figure out what was getting our tomatoes off the vine and scattering them all over, now we know. He also had some tomatoes hidden in under the truck and in another place as well. Just one of the 'perks' of living in the country. LOL
PS. My husband just checked under the hood and the thing is still there and he is chewing wires again. Hubby is trying to figure out how to get him out of where ever it is he is hiding in the truck!

A Happy Tomato

My hubby brought this tomato in from the garden tonight. Not sure what happened to it, either the cage got into it or a bug. I couldn't resist showing you a photo of it. Silly little happy face.
