Just Finished The Quilt!

Just about an hour ago, I finished the quilt that I gave you a sneak peek of the other day.

About a month ago I bought a quilt magazine at the store, (I rarely buy one)there was something in there I wanted, an article on quilting machines. Anyway, I was flipping through it when I got home and and saw this ad for these quilt patterns. The web site was http://www.quiltswithatwist.com/ . The quilt pictured was neat and I was very interested so I looked up the site. Lisa Moore designs Alaska themed quilts and this one just caught my eye when I looked at her web site. It is of a glacier in Alaska. I always put off ordering something and then when I decide that I do want it I can't get it. So this time I was determined to get this pattern, she was sold out but wait as luck would have it I found one on her list of her links. A quilt store in Anchorage, http://www.quiltedravenalaska.com/ . I think I was in that store when I was in Anchorage a few years ago. So I called them and ordered it as a kit. I didn't think I would be able to get the fabrics where I live.

It's done by folding and top stitching the rectangles. The pattern said for "intermediate quilters". I don't consider myself an intermediate quilter so I was a bit concerned that I would not be able to figure it out. I did call Lisa once and she was very nice and answered my question and said that if I needed any more help just call. All in all I don't think it was as difficult as I first thought and I did try the technique out on muslin before I even cut the fabric.

I do have to wait for 6 months to get it quilted but it will be worth the wait. I have time to save up the money. I still have to piece the backing, which is like the border print only a bit lighter. The binding will be the same as the backing. I hope all of you will visit Lisa's site and see her beautiful quilt designs.

That is a beautiful quilt, and it sounds like it was interesting to make. That website is pretty cool, too. Karen

Hello there! I saw the pics of your back yard on the selvage blog and thought I would come pop in :) My mom and dad live in N Central Kansas now, although I grew up in Colorado. I am a quilter and I live far from home- in Florida. I hope you are having a great day- gorgeous quilt!

Hi - I also cruised over from Selvage blog. And, I have that pattern!! I got it when I was visiting my nieces in Seattle.

I haven't started it yet, still collecting the materials. I liked it because it did have a different technique to try.

I am living in Oklahoma - so your backyard looks like a lot of places around here (even though I live in a city spot)

Beautiful. I get cold just looking at it, which today is a good thing... very hot here again. When I was a beginner and came across an intermediate quilt I liked, a friend reminded me that intermediate can by done by confident beginners. I didn't feel confident but I did it.

I remember one day at Daycare where I was the resident `Grandpa'. I was there to tell stories to the 2-3 year olds. I had brought some old toys to show the kids. One was a little dancing man. One of the little ones said something to me that I think fits perfect on what I want to say about your quilt.....

CAN I HAVE IT??????

Great quilt. Remember, in your will that my last name is W I L S O N ;-)....
