Part 3 - Use IT Up!

Coin Quilt
Even though I seem to have less and less time to sew I have managed to get one top done. I am now working on the other top. This didn't come out quite like I wanted it to but still I am pleased with it. It is a good size for a twin bed. I have a good start on the other one but need to make more strips for it. While I was putting this one together I thought I would put the other one together a little differently. When I took the photo for this one it was on the back porch and the sun was shining a little so it looks sort of funny.

Hubby and I took a much needed afternoon out yesterday and went to the movies and out to eat. We had a good time and today, well tonight, is back to the old grind.

I enjoy my time after hubby goes to work but I don't get to bed very early and sleep a little later in the mornings but that is the only way to make this night shift work for me. I just hope he sleeps till later in the afternoon and then I can read while he is sleeping. I just finished reading Wuthering Heights. Saw the movie once I think but would love to watch it again now that I have read the book. I didn't realize that Heathcliff was so crazy. I am waiting for a book to come in from the inter-library loan so I can read the second book in the series of The Master of Hestviken by Sigrid Undset. I couldn't put the first book down.

I had better go and get a few things done before I finally call it a night. I did spend a couple of hours on here reading blog so there wasn't much sewing tonight. You miss two or three days on the blogs and you miss a lot.  One more thing, I fnally called about the order for my grand daughters quilt so I could finish that up and I can no longer get the charms in the Blush Fabric line. He did manage to find a jelly roll so I can finish it off. And YES it was on sale!!!

I like the quilt....is that a coin quilt? I'm so dumb I don't know!
I just watched Wuthering Heights the other day on Turner Classic Movies. If you get that channel, keep your eye open...it'll be back!! It's one of my favorites.

Your coin quilt looks great! Definately a good way to use up scraps!
I used to read alot, but now-a-days, it seems like if I sit down to read, I fall asleep! So if I want to stay up, I have to do busy-work... :O)
Jim works second shift too, but with Jimmy, I can't sleep in!

I really like your coin quilt! The different widths of the coin strips make it really interesting and the light from behind makes me think of stained glass.
You make me want to go back and read Wuthering Heights.

I love your quilt. What a great way to use up scraps. That night shift is hard to get used to for the whole family. Glad to see you can get some good reading time in though. Best, Lisa

Marlene,

It's lovely to hear from you. Wow - that quilt top looks fabulous. It looks like it's a lot of work!!!

To answer your question about the Aurifil embroidery floss - yes, they are cotton! I can't wait to try them out.

Great scrappy coins, very nice. I used to work the night shift and enjoyed it, can you believe it? Someone actually liking it?? I'm much better at night than during the day anyway (I thinks it's genetic from the women in my family, ha-ha.) I too, am now feeling the draw to read Wuthering Heights again. Have you seen Elizabeth Gaskell's North & South? I love it. It's a BBC production. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

You can definitely lose a good chunk of time catching up on blogs. I'm trying to do a little here and there today, but even if I catch up, I know I'll fall way behind during the work week. Oh well! Love the coin tops - as well as the "use it up" philosophy behind them.
