He Likes Yellow!

One of my grandson's loves all things yellow. I think he will like this quilt when it is done, I think it has enough yellow in it. This was not the original fabric for this quilt, well not all of it anyway. You can see the original post here. I made some of the blocks but the orange just was not working. I was a bit bummed out about it so I thought about it for a few days and decided to can the oranges. I went with more blues and greens which has made a much nicer quilt for a boy. He is only 3 and this quilt is huge. It is approximately 62 X 85., honestly I didn't think it was that big. Originally it called for Prairie Points around the edges but I am going to put a border on it instead. I am just trying to figure that out. I was thinking a blue around the outside edge, not too wide then maybe a little more yellow and the blue again for the binding or perhaps just a scrappy binding. The back will be pieced with different fabrics because I don't have enough of one fabric for it. I will post again when I get it done.
I am still working on last months block of the month, I know I am dragging my feet on that one. Plus I already picked up this months BOM as well. Guess I had better get going and get something done. Thanks for looking.

I have just recently started liking yellow. This little quilt is great - I love all the fabrics! I like the idea of a small blue border, then a yellow one, and then a blue binding. I like framing things like that. :o)

I really like the contrast of the yellow with the blues. It is very pretty. Check out this link that I was going to blog about next week. It is a quilt from a shop hop going on next week in our area, and I am fascinated by the different borders and layouts for the same basic quilt. I think the last quilt from Sew What would look kind of neat on your quilt. http://pumpkinpatchshophop.wordpress.com/shop-hop-quilts/

That looks like a perfect fall quilt. Your grandson is spoiled! I am sure you don't mind spoiling him though, do you?! ;)

Have a great weekend.

I like it. I much prefer it without the orange. And the colours are perfect for a boy.

This is such a sweet quilt. I think your gs will enjoy using this for a very long time. It's bright, but very boyish :-)

I love the water-color effect you got with this quilt. It's a beauty. I agree about ditching the prairie points. I could see just putting a blue binding on it, without additional borders, since the outer row of yellow triangles kind of "contains" the quilt as it is. Grandson is sure to love it.

Yellow and Fallish - Perfect for the October born Pumpkin/Halloween/Yellow loving boy!
Busy here rearranging and getting a craft corner and turning a closet into an office! PHEW! Hope all is well there - no snow here on the mountains or the bowl - Maybe Halloween will not be white this year...
