Today my Mom and Dad would have been married for 63 years. He died in 1984. He was 20 years older than my Mom. My brother died 19 years ago yesterday.
My Mom told me that when they got married they had $700 to their name, which was quite a lot back then. They rented an apartment and bought furniture and the rest of the things they needed to set up house keeping and had money left over. She still has the receipt for the furniture they bought, I think she had the shoes she has on in the photo up until a couple of years ago. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she still had the suit she is wearing too. My Mom has always been a tiny woman, 5 feet tall in her stocking feet and no more than 100 pounds, of course age has changed that for her as it does for all of us.
Back to work for me but I wanted to take a moment to post this photo. Have a good day!
