Some Progress

Strip quilt blocks
I have made some progress on my scraps. I am truly amazed at how far they seem to go. I am wondering if I will ever get to the end of them? I hope so. I did these before I got sick but now that I am finally feeling better and have a bit of energy I hope to get back to some serious sewing.

I am doing these on muslin. Not sure if I will put any batting in when I am done or not. I have done a little reading on it and some say that you don't need it when you use muslin for a foundation but then some others say that they did use batting. I may try some batting in there we shall see. Any thoughts on this subject anyone?

Have a good weekend.

My NYB quilt was done with muslin foundation pieces. The instructor indicated the same thing, that I wouldn't need batting. I think it is a matter of personal preference. When I was done, it felt a bit thin to me, so I'm going to use batting.

I'm using muslin more and more but I think it depends on how you're going to use the finished quilt whether wadding is needed as well. Glad you're feeling better.

Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. Hope you are back in tip top shape really soon.

I have some of the green fabric with the circles of flowers in my stash too. ;-)

My scraps are never-ending - I swear they multiply in the dark. But that's OK. Regarding the batting, if you are hand quilting, I wouldn't use batting. Or if it will be a summer quilt. But otherwise, I think I'd use batting.

Hi Marlene,

Glad to hear that sewing is back in your routine. I wouldn't know the answer to your question. So I would have to defer to the other quilters. Looks to me there are some good answers here.
